Pastor Stacey Mims is a native of St. Louis, MO. receiving her early education in the Normandy School District.
Pastor Stacey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources from University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, MO, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary. She has received her credentials for substance abuse for faith-based organizations sponsored by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Missouri Department of Mental Health’s Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and the Committed Caring Faith Communities. She has facilitator certification in Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP).
Pastor Stacey is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She is the Chief Administrative Officer of A New Cornerstone, Inc. She serves on the Board of Directors of PreacherWoman. While at Eden she was selected for two consecutive years as co-facilitator of the African & African American Students at Eden Networking Denominationally (AAASEND). She was the first African American as well as the first African American Woman to pastor Mt. Auburn-Wesley United Methodist Church. Pastor Stacey accepted the call to pastor and to preach in February 1997 at her childhood church, Union Memorial United Methodist Church, where she became the first African American female, raised in the church, to be called to set apart ministry.
Presently she is co-founder/co-pastor of Barak Christian Church in Hazelwood, MO. At Barak she systematically applies the infra-structure. She undergirds the ministry areas of the church not only with administrative support but with theological guidance to ensure effective and efficient ministry outcomes as well as helping members to find their fulfillment in doing ministry as servants of Christ Jesus.
Pastor Stacey teaches classes on Thinking Theologically, History of Christianity, Christian Education and Church Administration at Barak LMD School of Learning for clergy and laity.
Her passion in ministry is to change the internal identity of the church (in reach) by empowering and motivating Christians to become more serious about discipleship.
Pastor Stacey is married to her friend and mentor, the Reverend Dr. Lynn R. Mims. They have one daughter and three grandchildren. Others have often noted the smile on her face whenever her husband enters the room.
